Looking at the chart below, the fight against gay marriage will be increasingly a losing battle. The overwhelming support of those 18-29 in over two-thirds of states will steadily become the mean once the 65+ crowd ceases to be with us(sorry Mom). This might take decades in some states, but it will happen.
The gays are going to take your children and brainwash them against bullying, beating, mocking, maiming, and killing Gays, Lesbians, and Transgenders for being Gays, Lesbians, and Transgenders. Don’t these Homosexuals know it is our God-given right to do all of these things without any social ostracizing or legal ramifications.
DO NOT OPPRESS US BY NOT LETTING US OPPRESS THOSE EVIL HOMOSEXUALS!!!!!
P.S. —WE DRESS WELL TOO!!!!! JUST LOOK AT SARAH PALIN.
The rhetoric just get crazier, more hateful, more emotive, and more adolescent. The Evangelical Right knows they can’t win on their ideas. Their only shot is placing enough fear in to those who would bully, harass, oppress, beat, and kill gays and lesbians back into their closet where they belong. I fear in the near future that the name Matthew Sheppard will be joined by many others whose only crime was being born different than those in the Illinois Family Council, the Family Research Council, or The Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints National Organization for Marriage.
Liberal churches have redefined compassion to mean that the church changes its message to meet modern demands. They argue that to tell a homosexual he is a sinner is uncompassionate and intolerant. This is like arguing that a physician is intolerant because he tells a patient she has cancer. But, in the culture of political correctness, this argument holds a powerful attraction.
Does he really think that comparing Homosexuality to a cancer is going win converts to his side of thinking, especially with the youth?
According to Mohler, “no moral revolution can succeed without shaping and changing the minds of young people and children.” However, using such derisive language and castigating metaphors about people that these young adults and children in many instances grow up with and love signals only that even the true believers either know that the battle is lost or have no inkling on how public relations even works.
While I do think he is wrong, it is his right to have this opinion. Just don’t think that these types of passages are going to stem the seemingly inevitable tide against this mode of thought.
