Homecoming to Austin
A great video featuring my adopted hometown of Austin, TX. Places I recognize here:
1. South Congress- Great shops, restaurants, and ridiculously great food trailers.
2. Zilker Park-Home of Austin City Limits Festival and beautiful Spring days.
3. Barton Springs Pool- Where summer and high bacteria come together.
4. University of Texas- Hey, they have a tower and a Gutenberg Bible. Beat that College Station.
5. 6th Street- (mostly)Cheap beer, cops with horses, and parents with strollers at 1AM.
6. Capital of Texas Highway- Beautiful part of town where the video culminates with sunset at the Pennybacker bridge over the Colorado River.

Bill Murray bartending at Shangri-La during SXSW
The video isn’t that funny other than the thought of Bill Murray downing a shot of tequila with you as you pony up to the bar, however, this is close to my heart. Shangri-La is a great hole in the wall on East 6th Street. I play trivia there on most Mondays and all of the bartenders(minus Peter Venkman, of course) in this video have slid over a $2 Miller High Life to me on more than one occasion. Sweet.

Looks like I'm going to be in a hurricane
You would think Austin, 180 miles from the coast, would be safe from any hurricane. Not true as I’m finding out this week. Hurricane Ike is barrelling down on the Texas Gulf Coast and moving at such a speed as to possibly be a Category 2 when it arrives into Central Texas. Luckily for me, the path has slided over to the east a few hundred miles–not so lucky for Houston. Austin should only get Tropical Storm force winds, but there could be Hurricane winds if it comes ashore southwest of the projection.
